OLIVER CLARE
(1853-1927)
Oliver Clare was born in Birmingham, England in 1853. He was a painter of still-life pictures with fruit and flowers.
Oliver was a member of the famed Clare family of painters, the son of George and the brother of Vincent. All three members worked mainly in Birmingham and painted similar subjects.
Oliver Clare was notorious for often settling local pub tabs, with a painting or two. Oliver exhibited at the Royal Academy in and around 1883 as well as the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street. |
