VICENTE (VINCENT) de PAREDES
Spanish (1845-1903)

Vicente (Vincent) de Paredes was born in Spain in 1845. He was a painter of figures, historical and genre scenes, portraits and urban scenes.

While he was born in Spain, he lived and worked in the Parisian suburb of Arcueil.

In his lifetime, De Paredes exhibited quite successfully at the various important art venues in Paris. He was awarded an honorable mention at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900.

His historical scenes were so popular that they were often made into color engravings.

Vicente de Paredes died in Paris in 1903.

Today, his paintings of historical depictions of the French Court of an earlier period, such as those entitled “Benjamin Franklin at the Court of France” and “The Presentation of Young Mozart to Mme. de Pompadour”are highly sought after.
