ALFRED MONTAGUE, R.B.A.
British (1832-1883)
Alfred Montague was born in England in 1832. He was a painter of landscapes, town views and coastal scenes. He was listed as living in Birmingham and London.
Montague exhibited successfully during his career, most prominently from 1836 through 1870. These venues included the British Institution and the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street.
He was elected a full member (R.B.A.) of the Royal Society of British Artists.
Alfred Montague painted landscapes and coastal scenes in northern France and Belgium and his paintings are said to be similar to those of the noted artist, Henri Schafer.
He died in or some time after 1883. |
