HENRY H. PARKER
(1858-1930)
Henry H. Parker was born in England in 1858 and was a landscape painter primarily working in oils.
He was a prolific and a successful artist who usually painted river landscapes, coastal views or rural architecture, mostly in Wales, Kent and around the Thames in Surrey.
Parker's work is executed in a broad and confident naturalistic style which has been likened to the late works of Benjamin Williams Leader. Like many of his contemporaries, Parker preferred a palette of strong greens in preference to browns.
Parker refused to exhibit nationally therefore, biographical information on him is limited. However, due to the fine quality of his work, which never appears hackneyed, Parker’s landscapes have always been highly popular with discerning collectors.
